Search Tips

You may search Hot Tips using either of two methods.

Search
     KEYWORD

One or more special KEYWORDS have been assigned to each of our Hot Tips knowledgebase items.

Searching by KEYWORD will give the best and most specific results .

For example, if you are searching for the word 'ODBC' via a KEYWORD search, you will return only Hot Tips that are designated with a key word of 'odbc.

However, if you were to search for the word 'ODBC' via TEXT search (search method below), you would receive a list of every Hot Tip that used the word 'odbc', regardless of whether it was a significant (key) word in that Hot Tip or not.

Search
     TEXT
Searching by TEXT means that the search will look for the occurence of the search word(s) anyplace in the Hot Tip text.

Whole/Partial Word Search

Searches use both WHOLE and PARTIAL words matches.   PARTIAL word searches uses a 'BEGINS WITH' methodology.

Example:  Searching on the word 'Print' would find both the word 'Print' and the word 'Printer' (but not the word Sprint ).

Upper / Lower Case Searches ignore case.  Enter either upper or lower case words in your search.

Multiple Words

If you use more than one word in your search, the words are strung together with the condition 'AND'.

Example:   If you search on the words 'Print' and 'Error', then BOTH words, (or parts of words) must be present for the Hot Tip to be listed.

To aid your search, will see the number of 'HITS' of each word found during the search.  This will help you further refine your search if you do not find what you want.
