How to transmit just the data in a cfa

Transmitting Capture File Data

Serialtest capture files include information on timestamps, errors and control signal states in addition to the data. The files are also compressed using proprietary compression techniques, which is why you get "garbage" data when you retransmit a capture file.

To transmit the data in a Serialtest capture file, you will first need to export it to a binary format.

  • Open the capture file containing the data you want to transmit.
  • On the Control window, choose Export from the File menu.
  • Choose the Transmit Data template from the Apply Template box. This template will set up the export fields properly and includes both the DTE and DCE data. If you want to transmit just the DTE data, choose the Transmit DTE template. To transmit just the DCE data, choose the Transmit DCE template.
  • Choose a filename in the Export box. The default file name will be the name of your capture file with a .bin extension.
  • By default the file will be saved in the Frontline Test System\Data directory. Click on the Browse button to save your file to another location.
  • Click Export.

The result will be a .bin file, which you can transmit from the File tab of the Transmit window.
