Can't Gain Control of Port Can't Gain Control of Port(s)
This means that the FTS drivers are not installed for the port(s) specified in Options | Hardware Settings. This will be preceded by an error message stating " A benign unexpected error has occurred... ". Not all serial ports are compatible with FTS. To see a list, please go to http://www.fte.com/Support/WebPages/PORTS-009.htm
To install the drivers:
Windows 2000 or XP:
FTS Version 1.x: Download AsyncDriverSupportFTSVersion1.zip below. Unzip the file and follow the instructions in Installing the FTS Serial Driver for FTS Version 1.pdf.
FTS Version 2.x: If you have FTS version 2.x, please upgrade to version 5.1 at http://fte.com/download.asp. Drivers and instructions are included in the installation. This is a free upgrade for owners of FTS 2.x
FTS Version 3.x and newer: In these versions, the drivers are copied to the hard drive during product installation on a set of instructions are also installed under Start | Programs | [Product Name] | Setup.
Drivers for Quatech Cards under Windows 98: Please download ser9xqt.zip and run quatech_swap.bat.
