Frontline Test Equipment Joins Forces With Trevilon Corp. To Deliver Solution For Analyzing NTCIP Protocols
FTS for NTCIP Is the Price/Performance Leader For Analyzing Intelligent Transportation System Communication Protocols!

Charlottesville, VA - July 10, 2001 - Frontline Test Equipment, Inc., the leader in affordable, PC-based, data communication test equipment, and Trevilon Corp., an industry leader in Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) standards, today announced the availability of their FTS for NTCIP analyzer for the SNMP and STMP protocols. While existing SNMP protocol analyzers are both expensive and limited in scope to supporting Internet compliant information, FTS for NTCIP is affordably priced and supports all standardized center-to-field protocol stacks for the transportation industry-and is able to decode proprietary objects.

The FTS for NTCIP feature set includes real-time data capture, timestamping, filtering, and error analysis. However, the product's truly differentiating attribute is its ability to fully decode data frames on the link between a central system and one or more field devices-at the bit level. This full decoding capability enables FTS for NTCIP users to rapidly detect and isolate even the most minute and intermittent problems associated with their NTCIP compatible products, applications, and systems.

FTS for NTCIP is an indispensable test tool for ITS system product developers, system integrators, and system troubleshooters. The protocol analyzer enables shorter and less costly development intervals for NTCIP compliant equipment and applications, faster and more efficient NTCIP system installations, and quicker resolution of intermittent problems.

According to Kenneth Vaughn, Trevilon President and member of the NTCIP Joint Committee, "The Frontline Test System (FTS) software is a proven product with thousands of copies sold. This base product has now been extended to support the NTCIP protocols, which will revolutionize the way NTCIP systems are developed, integrated, and tested. The initial response from the industry has been outstanding." Adds Eric Kaplan, President of Frontline Test Equipment, "We are delighted to partner with Trevilon in providing an FTS-based protocol analysis solution to this rapidly growing market."

FTS for NTCIP runs on any Windows 95/98/Me/NT/2000 compatible PC and can monitor serial links, Ethernet links, or the connection to an internal modem. The production release version of the product is priced at US$3,495. (Note: For a limited time, a pre-release version of FTS for NTCIP is available for only US$2,495. When the production release becomes available, the pre-release version will be upgraded at no additional cost.) The FrameDecoder option, which enables the user to create custom decodes for proprietary protocols or extensions to existing protocol decoders, is priced at US$500.

About Frontline Test Equipment, Inc.

Founded in 1991, Frontline Test Equipment, Inc. designs, develops, markets, and supports cost-effective, PC-based data communication test tools for the computer and communications industries. The company is currently fielding a family of general purpose and application specific protocol analyzers based upon a common protocol decoding engine-the FTS software. The resulting consistent look and feel across all Frontline products drastically reduces learning curves for engineers working in multiple protocol environments.

In addition to FTS for NTCIP, currently available products based on the FTS software include: Serialtest Async, Serialtest Spy, and AsyncExpress (asynchronous serial data and protocol analyzers); Serialtest ComProbe (synchronous/asynchronous serial data and protocol analyzers); SerialBERT (Bit Error Rate Tester); Ethertest (10/100 Mbps Ethernet analyzer); SerialBlue (BlueTooth protocol analyzer), and FTS for IA & SCADA (Industrial Automation and SCADA communication protocol analyzer). FTS products are PC-based and support Windows 95, 98, Me, NT, and 2000.

Frontline is headquartered in Charlottesville, Virginia, with a sales and support office located in Vienna, Austria. The company distributes products worldwide to a diverse customer base including AT&T, Sprint, SBC, Verizon, Amoco, General Electric, Rockwell Automation, Department of Defense, Burlington Northern Railroad, VISA, 3COM, and America Online (AOL). The worldwide installed base of Frontline products exceeds 25,000.
